1. Final Fantasy VII Remake
The Final Fantasy series is a collection of RPGs following a different protagonist through each game. Final Fantasy VII Remake in particular features Cloud Strife as the main character, a remake of the 1997 Final Fantasy VII game. The game features recurring characters such as Tifa Lockhart, Aerith Gainsborough, and Sephiroth. Through Cloud, players get to engage in battle, interact with characters, and explore the map with its open world capabilities. In battle, players get to engage in a unique combat mode called Active Time Battle (ATB) which when filled, allows players to momentarily stop the fight. Persona 5 follows the story of protagonist Ren Amamiya, who is a transfer student at Shujin Academy. Through his time in and out of school, he discovers the existence of another world, the Metaverse. The Metaverse is his catalyst to awakening his “Persona”, which gives him superhuman abilities. In the game, Ren gains allies to fight the enemies called “shadows”. He and his allies are referred to as the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts”, whose goal is the rid the world of corrupt adults. Through Ren, players can progress the plot through dialogue choices and combat. Combat occurs through the Metaverse, where the characters can turn into their Personas and fight to defeat the enemy.
3. Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact begins with two sibling’s separation, and the lone journey of one. The objective of the game is to reunite the siblings, with hints through the progression of Archon Quests. Players can choose a sibling they want to fight as in the game, and give it a name of their preference. Through this, they are involved in dialogue and choices. With the feature of a wish system, players can obtain characters or weapons through Limited-time Event Wishes and Standard Wishes. While exploring, characters have the opportunity to level up through fighting enemies. But, they can also get stronger through artifacts and weapons. Artifact domains give randomized drops of an artifact set, and weapon domains give the ascension material required to upgrade a weapon. Genshin Impact allows its players to leisurely go through the game with its unique building ability.
